Düsseldorf/Cologne

The DC Open – an open galleries weekend currently running in the German cities of Düsseldorf and Cologne – is the occasion for the public to unearth up-and-coming promising artists. At Wertical we are partial to young artists as revealed by are our weekly ‘Emerging Artist of the Week’ series so that it is noticeable that we dedicate one of our DC Open special post to the artists of tomorrow.

At Pop;68 – the project space by Ruttkowski;68 – Cologne- and Berlin-based photographer Andy Kassier is presenting the science of happiness. In the form of a modern and masculine Cindy Sherman, the young artist puts on a performance of which he is the main impersonator. His exuberant character, at times solely wearing a fur coat on top of a snowy mountain, at times enjoying a dip in an all-white suit points out the extravagance that rages today’s society.
In Düsseldorf, Conrads highlights the abstract details captured by Anna Vogel with the exhibition Wie Sonst Bist Du?. Under the guidance of large-scale photographs master Andreas Gursky, the young German photographer seizes spot on structures that stay open to interpretations.

Both shows are opening on Friday the 2nd of September on the occasion of DC open and running through September.
