SITUATIONS is a collective of different solo exhibitions constituting one major exhibition in the end.

Each and every of the solo shows interrogate the critical look people take at each other as well as the significance and implication of images showing the body in the 21st century society. Aneta Grzeszykowska “Selfies” show replicates parts of her own body on dyed pigskin. Supra realistic, these human fragments are pierce right through by needles and other tools giving a feeling of faintness and self suffering to the viewer. Heather Dewey-Hagborg works with anonymous faces. Collecting ADNS remains in the streets -cigarettes, nails, hairs, Dewey-Hagborg uses biological means to recreate a 3D version of the facial features of unknown people. She thus testimonies of the power and control symbolized by technology. In his movie „Junior War“, Ryan Trecartin follows young teenagers in a in-between stage, recording their days and nights while they are living to the fullest their pre-adult life.

For its opening on the 10th April, SITUATIONS featured five artists of different nationalities, backgrounds and experiences. Ryan Treacartin, Heather Dewey-Hagborg, Hito Steyerl, Aneta Grzeszykowska and the fifth one being anybody sending screenshots and videogame’s pictures of their own production. Three additional artist shows will take place through May and June, completing thus the SITUATIONS exhibition and its concept.
