‚Faults Folds Falls‘
London
‚Faults Folds Falls‘ is a futuristic exhibition by Nika Neelova. The show presented by Vigo Gallery displays sculptures and sculptural installations representing memory items that would inhabit a post-human world.
Chairs, IKEA stools and cabinets are decoded and recoded in order to perform their initial shape, before their building process. These replicates create a fictional space of which human are excluded in order to focus on their testimony. The structure of the chairs is visible, yet the form is not. All agglomerated against a wall, chair back and feet form one single structural item. As explained by the artist, ‘These deconstructed objects suggest a continuous shift of form from furniture to architecture to nature to postman landscape.’ The new technology depicted by the Russian artist shape a futuristic environment in which the human of her dream would evolves.
The terminology of the title – Faults Folds Falls- hints at various geological phenomena that signify the new temporal frame in which Neelova wants to bring her visitor.
