The Spiral

Strasbourg

From tomorrow on, Arte broadcasts The Spiral – a transmedia project, which is not only on display on TV and on the internet; it takes place indeed.

A community of art activists has stolen six paintings monumental paintings from six different European museums: amongst others, a Picasso from the Dutch Van Abbenmuseum and a Rubens from Belgian’s Rubenhuis. But it is not about the rip-off, the activists protest against financial establishments as they are hijacking art and transforming it into a commodity for the financial markets. While the economical crisis is still haunting the world, record breaking amounts are being paid for art. As they only care about profit, the activists fight for the true value of art, which is ignored and damaged.

You can be part of The Spiral by just watching the series that are on view each Monday from September 3rd to October 1st or by helping to find the paintings back and therewith creating a new work of art.
