‚Meeting on the Shore: a working studio‘

Park Life is currently exhibiting two shows in one with the Belgium collective Atelier Pica Pica and Italian, US-based artist Francesco Igory Deiana. The later is mainly known for his large ballpoint pen drawings on paper while the Belgium crew is known for its simple constructions of shapes and colors. But both aesthetically and visually converge in a tangible way through ‘Meeting on the Shore: a working studio’ – the name of the show.

Atelier Pica Pica consists of three members; Boris Magotteaux (1978), Manuel Falcata (1979) and Jerome Degive (1980) all coming from the Belgium town of Liège. The collective combines their multiple talents and influences to create unique pieces. They switch from paintings to drawings to photographs and installations, uniting them all in a comprehensive way. Special taints arrangements, geometrical but non-linear forms and different material representations are the directive lines of the crew. Such principles can also be found through Francesco Igory Deiana’s art. The immersion of materialistic effects is a regular component of his works associated with geometrical and optical arrangements à la Sol LeWitt. With ‘Meeting on the Shore: a working studio’ Atelier Pica Pica & Francesco Igory Deiana create a ‘personal and yet somehow obvious universe.’
