Luhring Augustine Gallery is currently showing new artworks from American artist Christopher Wool. After a sought-after solo exhibition at the Salomon Guggenheim Museum of New York in 2014, Wool’s new project is called ‘Bushwick’. Renown for his large black-stenciled letters on white canvases with catching sentences such as ‘Sell The House Sell The Car Sell The Kids’ or ‘And If You Can’t Take A Joke You Can Get The Fuck Out Of my House’ his new exhibition features no text but keeps his signature white and black color code.

With ‘Bushwick’ Wool explores the medium linen by making run enamel and silkscreen ink on it. The unpredictable impact of the paints drove by the fabric leads to arbitrary results yet very illustrative. Several untitled pieces underline two human profiles back-to-back of unprecise shape but surprisingly recognizable. The drips guide the ultimate appearance of the paintings and therefore let the appreciation and recognition of each and every piece to the observer, mood, and feelings.
