Frontman of  The Horrors and former student at the St. Martins College of Art, Faris Badwan has documented his entire life through drawing. His unique artwork has adorned the album sleeves of The Horrors, Hatcham Social and The Charlatans.

While others have compared his style to a visual “stream of consciousness”, Faris has identified the accidental and the obsessive in his work; “hypnotic” states of concentration mixed with the smudge and slip of a pen.

The Strand Gallery is proud to present Creatures in Colour: Sketchbooks from Faris Badwan, a retrospective collection of the artist’s intricate, dreamlike ink drawings, alongside new works in watercolours.

Alongside pages from Faris’ sketchbooks, The Strand Gallery also exhibits a selection of new pieces in watercolour and acrylic. These Creatures In Colour show a new side to Faris’ creative technique.
