Our former interviewee Hendrik ‚ecb‘ Beikirch just finished painting a mural in the Lower East Side of New York City. It shows a young german girl and is thus referring to the old yet new LES – a place in Manhattan where the old charm of NYC – old facades, small shops, a hello from a stranger – is still preserved.

The 39-year-old German artist is most famously known for his tall portraits. He depicts the personal and the private, portraits that tell a story. Instead of illustrating famous people, he draws attention to those who have a magnetic personality or some other recognition value, characters who become all the more interesting because they remain anonymous.
