Jens Schubert at ART DEMO DAY

Nov 17, 2015

Cologne

The works of German artist Jens Schubert are deep in colours and imaginative representations. Op Art and ethnicity bridge in a lithograph-like aspect charged of travel and history.

Jens Schubert was born in Leipzig and stayed there for his studies at the renowned Hochschule fur Grafik und Buchkunst. His art is inspired by symbolic iconography from ancient and contemporary tenses while dealing at the same time with today’s pop culture of video games and highly colourful visuals.

From November 21 on, his works will be on display in the group exhibition ART DEMO DAY. Florian Waldvogel, the curator of the show, sat down with Jens Schubert to talk art and politics.

Florian Waldvogel: What has been formative during your studies?
Jens Schubert: Discipline and craft.

FW: To what extent are social references important for your work?
JS: They are companions, but not actors of it.

FW: What is an exhibition?
JS: It’s the work after the work.
