Athens

In its Athen-based gallery, Gagosian is currently featuring iconic photographer Peter Lindbergh in a solo exhibition. The man who captured and celebrated the human body – especially the woman morphology – is honored through an exhibition that retraces his famous black and white pictures.

Lindbergh immortalized the raw physical grace of his subjects. This approach is embodied through the many cover shoots he did for Harper’s Bazar, Interview and naturally the iconic 1988 British Vogue cover featuring Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz and Christy Turlington. The German photographer transforms feminine curves eventually representing them from a new perspective. His practice emphasizes his approach that is best described with a quote of his: „Isn’t art about challenging existing systems; isn’t it about discovering meaning in things or situations before others see anything in them?“
