Sadie Coles HQ presents an exhibition featuring a painting series from American artist Richard Prince. It combines collages and bright abstract paintings on big scale canvases.

Prince widely became known with his iconic Cowboys series – rephotographs of Marlboro advertisements. From there, he dived into the world of words with his Joke paintings on which statements cover canvases. In 2007, Prince began his later works inspired by his previous Nurse Paintings. For this new exhibition, the artist mixes erotic nude collages with colorful drawings. As explained by Joan Katz ‘Richard collected some nudist cartoons by this guy John Dempsey. He inked jetted them up and drew a kind of hippie drawing over the collected cartoon… kind of like his hippie drawings that he did back in the last eighties. He turned the nudist cartoon into something about free love.’
