Los Angeles

After exhibitions in Tokyo, New York and a recent feature at Pulse in Miami, artist Seonna Hong returns to exhibit in Los Angeles with a new body of work titled Persistence of Vision.

This latest series of paintings and sculpture delves into the ideas of perception, how imprints are made and how those impressions project upon the picture of our experience. The process in which Hong develops her work has evolved from one of careful and concise planning to one of organic exposition. The deliberate quality remains in the application and symbolism throughout, but the result is more spontaneous. Her characters exist in an unnatural-natural world that comes to life around them. The landscapes now move from the background into the foreground, co-existing with her characters of girls as protagonists and not only embellishing the story but often telling it.
