Manuel Osterholt aka Superblast is mostly recognized for his paintings, graffitis and graphic designs. He uses symbols and images of different religions and cults and combines them with writings – a logic conclusion as he started out with graffiti. Some people even describe his artworks as graffiti artifacts.

Meanwhile Superblast spread his creativity to the field of photography. In the course of Creative Match Kreuzberg, Osterholt currently presents his photo series ‘Sleep Is The Cousin Of Death’. The title is inspired by the greek mythology, where Hypnos (sleep) is described as the brother of Thanatos (death). The series shows mattresses that the artist photographed over the last couple of years during his trips that lead him all around the world. The mattresses are thrown away, they lie on the streets – in different states of use, various colors and forms.

The team of IGNANT.TV met Superblast in his studio in Berlin, Mitte. Have a look!
