Copenhagen

The exhibition Tonight We Wont Be Bored celebrates the 10th anniversary of V1 gallery. The Copenhagen-based gallery opened in a defunct bakery on the 22. November 2002 in Abselonsgade 21, Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded by Jesper Elg and Peter Funch. The opening exhibition was Faile in dialogue with AKAY. In 2007, V1 moved to a larger space in a former butchery. The gallery represents a select group of emerging and established artists and is committed to introducing art, in all media, to an international audience. Seeing art as a profound and competent media for social and political discourse, the gallery aspires to serve as a platform for art that interacts with the surrounding (global) society.

The title Tonight We Won’t Be Bored – 10 Years Of V1 Gallery  pays tribute to the song Tannhauser / Derivè by the band Refused. The exhibition gathers some of the artists who have earlier exhibited in V1 Gallery, artists who are currently represented by the gallery and a selection of artists new to V1. The exhibition mainly consists of new works in a variety of media.
