UNAVAILABLE is a new art platform that simplifies the link between artists and art professionals like curators, art historians, gallery directors and collectors. It has been founded by Alexander Basile and Thomas Rappold. As a photographer and curator, Basile has already been around in the world of art while Rappold has his background in informatics and economics. With a head quarter in Cologne, Germany, UNAVAILABLE is situated in a central European position. The first art students who signed up with UNAVAILABLE study at schools such as Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig or Städelschule. By now, UNAVAILABLE already counts more than 500 artist accounts. And the number is increasing. This is also because the art platform is projecting to wider its network with the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, the USA and UK.

Offering a simple and direct connection with artists and art professionals, the art platform aims to avoid prevalent established, elite and constricting structures of the art world. By doing so, Basile and Rappold open up the art world and shed light on young talents that usually disappear within the thicket of it. Aside from annual graduation exhibitions, UNAVAILABLE provides what is formulated at art schools all year long.

Next to being active online, UNAVAILABLE regularly steps into the offline world. With group exhibitions entitled ART DEMO DAY, they regularly present a selection of artists who have an account at UNAVAILABLE. The curator who changes with each exhibition, uses the profile pages of the artists as the only selection criterion. The first ART DEMO DAY takes place at Cologne-based Ruttkowski;68 gallery. The curator Florian Waldvogel selected seven artists.
