Pace gallery is presenting their first Robert Rauschenberg postmortem exhibition. Entitled ‚Anagrams, Arcadian Retreats, Anagrams (A Pun)‘, the show enlightens the works of the postwar master who revolutionized the American scene with his pop art pieces mixing photography, prints and 3D pieces.

The exhibition has been curated in conjunction with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, thus envisioning the Anagrams, Arcadian Retreats, Anagrams series, a major one created by the artist in the mid 1990s. The corpus examines the boundaries between art and life (most of the pieces come directly from Rasuchenberg’s collection) in a way that would mark modern art for the posterity  Large scale paper and polylaminate panels are worked with his revolutionizing method of water soluble inkjet that tended to a mechanical production of his art. Method that will inspire the groundbreaking ‚The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction‘ essay from philosophical art historian Walter Benjamin.
