Tetsumi Kudo

Hauser & Wirth is presenting the first ever Tetsumi Kudo exhibition in Switzerland. The exhibition is a reconfiguration of the Testumi Kudo exhibition presented at the Hauser & Wirth London in conjunction with Andrea Rosen Gallery.

The show focuses on Kudo’s Parisian period, from 1963 to 1972. The works correspond to the post Japan war years and are led by a disillusionment of the modern world. Societally critical, Kudo’s oeuvre points at the downsides of modernism by giving rise to ecological and industrial issues. With ‘Garden of the Metamorphosis in the Space Capsule’ the use of radioactive detritus and vivid non hearty elements and colors to represent vegetal microcosms epitomizes Kudo deceptive view of the pollution effects.

His cube series, facsimile of limbs and other organs, comments on the European mass production system and its defect on individualism. Realized more that half a century ego, Kudo’s corpus is a reverberation of today’s worries and confrontations.
