Venturing Beyond: Graffiti and the Everyday Utopias of the Street presents seventeen artists from different countries considering art and urbanity. The exhibition is a collaboration between collaborative art organisation A(by)P and Somerset House and is part of Utopia 2016: A Year of Imagination and Possibilities that celebrates the 500th anniversary of Thomas’s More’s text.

On this occasion, internationally known artists like Shepard Fairey, HuskMitNavn and Brad Downey created artworks especially for the show. Also Italian artist Filippo Minelli is one of the participating artists. He composed one of his iconic ephemeral smoke installations. Already famous for his graceful and colorful clouds of smoke mostly evaporating in natural environments – fields and lakes – Minelli’s smoke now invaded the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court. A mix of violet, orange, red and pink changed the setting into a decisively poetical utopian picture. At the top of the South Wing of Somerest House, above the array of smoke, the Utopian Flag was waving indicating the many faces of urban art.
