New York

Galerie Lelong and Andrea Rosen Gallery are presenting a joint exhibition with Yoko Ono. The conceptual artist is delivering a temporary installation named ‚The Riverbed’. Thought as a communicative and gathering space, Ono’s piece ask for the audience participation in order to reach their entire breath.

Although disseminated in two different locations, The Riverbed is though of as one single piece. Both galleries need to be visited in order to fully experience Ono’s work. The first installation is a pile of river stones collected by the artist who inscribed on them the meaningful words ‘remember’, ‘dream’ and ‘wish’. The visitor may pick a stone as a meditative object letting go on his/her emotions and fears before placing it on the pile in the middle of the room. ‘Mend Piece’ is another artwork presents in both galleries. Fragmented pieces of cups ask for the collaborative work of visitors to repair them with reconstruction tools disseminated in the room while sharing a cup of coffee.

The exhibition conveys values close to Ono’s heart and art. It has been built up through’s one of Ono’s longstanding concerns of women empowerment since both gallery leaders are women.
