The first festival ever, Street Culture@Hellerau presented the mutual influences of breakdance, rap, dance, music, graffiti, new media and fine arts. As such, 90 national and international artists were invited to perform their disciplines and interact with each other. The result was a two-week program including 15 performances, 4 concerts, 1 exhibition.

One of Germany’s most prominent street artists, SuperBlast, has been persuaded to act as curator for the exhibition, Future/Memory. It brings together a diverse range of international artists who have two things in common. All of them have a street culture background and made their way into the established contemporary art world by now.

Future/Memory investigates the impact of the artists’s social environment and it’s expression on their work – whether this might be a painting, drawing, photography,video, installation or conceptual work.
