‚Where I Want To Go‘

Vienna

Vienna-based Leopold Museum is currently showing an exclusive exhibition juxtaposing works by Tracey Emin and Egon Schiele. Emin is known for her pieces mixing vibrant intimacy with rough sexuality. Pieces such as ‘Everybody I Slept With’ or ‘My Bed’ are proof of this. The latter was shown at the Venice Biennale and features her undone bed, with empty condoms and menstruation-covered panties after she spent several days in it because of a love depression.

With ‘Where I Want To Go’ -the exhibition’s title- Tracey Emin presents eighty works and opens a unique artistic dialogue with the Vienna painter Egon Schiele who Emin always cited as one of her main source of inspiration. The show treats of recurring themes through Emin’s works such as love, suffering, longing and desire. They all allude to the intimacy of the artist’s life. Installations, paintings, videos – the media are quite numerous and represent the multidisciplinary of Tracey Emin.
