Dusseldorf

The oeuvre of the Düsseldorf-based, internationally renowned photographic artist Andreas Gursky stands, in contemporary photography, for a new approach to realism by means of conceptualisation or photo montage using digital technology. For his eponymous exhibition at Museum Kunstpalast Gursky selected 60 works from his oeuvre. Rather than following a chronological order, the exhibition mixes new and old, small and some very large-scale works, thus facilitating new and unusual perspectives on Gursky’s photographic art.

Gursky’s works encompass subjects such as architecture, landscape, interiors, but also large-scale events attended by huge crowds. Further, in the Düsseldorf exhibition, which spans works from the early 1980s through to the work series Ocean I-VI, 2010, or Bangkok, 2011, Andreas Gursky also presents some of his latest works to the public for the very first time.
