On the occasion of 53th Venice Biennale the State Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg and the Berengo Studio presents Glasstress 2015. Taking place for the fourth time, this collateral event of the Biennale aims at revealing the multiplicity of glass material. Artists from Europe and the United States gather around Murano in order to collaborate on glass pieces made from the famous Murano glass. For the 2015 edition of Glasstress, 54 artists have been chosen, all coming from various backgrounds used to work with different technics.

To name but a few participating artists and their works, Olafur Eliasson decided to work on a book. The Danish artist plays with the several tons and colors of the Murano glass through the big lenses he created as pages of his supersized book. The Austrian artist Erwin Wurm designed a mirror featuring his beloved concepts of emptiness, fullness shapes and volume. And Joana Vasconcelos made Giardino dell’Eden, an alabyrinthine Eden made from artificial flowers and light, shown inside an inflatable pavilion.
