Chicago

The Art Institute Of Chicago is reopening their contemporary art galleries with a new and exclusive donation from Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson. With an already considerable collection, ‘The New Contemporary’ celebrates the new 40 additions of contemporary masterpieces.

From the 1950s on, both collectors have acquired meaningful pieces that marked the art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, Richard Prince, Cindy Sherman and Roy Liechtenstein are all part of the new exhibition. From painting to photography passing by installation the new acquisitions make of the Art Institute collection the internationally strongest of the encyclopedic art museum. Mainly focussing on American art ‘The New Contemporary’ also include international artists such as Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami or Gerhard Richter. Thus offering a visual art history compilation of the the last 70 years.
