Geneva

The Gagosian Gallery is currently presenting the exclusive ‚Villers|Picasso‘ exhibition in their freshly renovated Geneva location. Presenting works from their collaboration in the 1950s’ to works by Villers from today, the show explores artistic and human relations through photographic lenses.

In 1953, Pablo Picasso and André Villers met in Vallauris. It was the beginning of an exclusive collaboration between the photograph and the plastic artist. By combining their talents, they created a cooperation series. Picasso created paper cutouts and sculptures. Villers captured them with his camera. The fructuous photographic series generated about 700 photograms from which 30 have been published is the renown book ‘Diurnes’. Coming with a Jacques Prevert preface, the book has been reedited on the occasion of the exhibition.
