Parra
‚I can’t look at your face anymore‘

Apr 14, 2016

Cologne

Parra focuses on everyday conundrums with playfulness and humor. His works presents naïve characters with human features engaged in situations that range from the ordinary to the saucy. The works reveal a deep understanding of human cognition, behaviour and attitudes within a society consumed by mass media.

I can’t look at your face anymore is Parra’s second exhibition at Ruttkowski;68 gallery after debuting with And wait for something to happen in 2013. The new exhibition is a multimedia showcase of work that includes canvas, sculptures and objects. As the title suggests, the focus is on the face – or rather, on obscuring the face – a response to the narcissism of selfies and the creation of edited selves in today’s social media.
