Rankin (full name John Rankin Waddell) is a – probably the – British portrait and fashion photographer. Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bündchen, Claudia Schiffer, Keira Knightley, Vivienne Westwood, Katy Perry, Madonna, Cate Blanchett, Nelly Furtado, David Bowie, and a host of other celebrities – Rankin has shot them all. Now, for the first time ever in Germany, his superabundant body of work is to be shown in a major retrospective exhibition at the NRW-Forum in Düsseldorf.

Rankin first came to prominence when he co-founded the style bible Dazed & Confused with Jefferson Hack. One of the most important magazines of the 90s, it established its stylists in the fashion elite, broke some of today’s top designers, and nurtured the budding careers of a generation of creative photographers.

Rankin – Show Off charts the key images from Rankin’s life as a photographer. At once revealing, shocking, amusing, and seductive, the exhibition is an exhilarating journey through a diverse portfolio. Alongside his most influential and iconic images, lesser-known photographs from his more recent personal projects are exhibited.
