30 years after the release of Style Wars, the movie that helped spread the graffiti movement from New York around the world, Swiss-Slovenian artist duo Veli and Amos released Style Wars 2. Premiered in Zurich in September 2013, it was on screen in Cologne / Germany on March 31st.

The movie is a well-quoted homage to the original Style Wars movie and at the same time tells the personal story of Veli and Amos. Even though the movie’s main focus is on graffiti, it approaches the topic in a much broader way, and also alludes to politics, art and lifestyle. Henry Chalfant, one of the makers of the original Style Wars movie, proudly promotes Style Wars 2: “It is a completely original film that makes intelligent and extremely funny references to our nearly 30-year old film, but in contemporary situations. In ironic, and often hilarious scenes they engage the various elements of the film’s narrative, such as the conflict with authorities, the cross-out wars and the emergence of graffiti in the art world, in surprising ways.”
