Venice

Created in 1895, The Venice Biennale has soon become one of the worlds biggest biennale and is nowadays recognized as the world leader in contemporary art exhibitions. From 1999 to 2013, the number of countries participating has increased from 59 to 88. The Architecture Venice Biennale is also recognized as the best in the world, making of the Venice Biennale the most prestigious cultural organization.

With over a century of existence, the Venice Biennale is bound to happen. First created as a creative and artistic link in between the countries, giving them the opportunity to present one local artist in their pavilion, it now takes place on every cultural level, in the whole floating city.

This 56th International Art Exhibition is entitled All the World’s Futures and is curated by Okwui Enwezor in collaboration with the president of the biennale, Paolo Baratta. Displayed in the whole city, the exhibition and its numerous collateral events are on show for seven months. Along with the Art exhibition, a theater festival, a cinema sector and private exhibitions respond to the same theme. To name but a few example of participating artists: Kerry James Marshall, represented by the David Zwirner Gallery with his colorful PVC panel as well as Rinus Van de Velde von the Tim Van Laere Gallery In Antwerp and his Brillo box, famous references to Andy Warhol.
