New York

For the second time in two years, Yayoi Kusama is exhibiting her illustrious dots at David Zwirner‚s West Street locations in New York (in 2013 she showed ‚Who Have Arrived In Heaven‘ at David Zwirner). The Japanese artist of international fame and plentiful points is presenting ‘Give me Love’, a show that features new paintings from the series ‘My Eternal Soul’ as well as polka-dotted pumpkin sculptures.

Acclaimed as the most popular artist alive by The Art Newspaper Yayoi Kusama made a career on her dot representation and demonstration. Ranging from a simple point to a 178 cm high circle, they aim at a psychedelic impression through their op art attendance. ‘Visionary Death’ is part of the acrylic series shaped according to dots and lines. The embracing colors create a patchwork designed by geographic forms that organize the canvas throughout its entirety. With the Pumpkin series, Kusama realizes human-high steel perforated pumpkins that allow the viewers to see himself in the mirroring material while seeing through the pumpkins, creating a unique self representation and, as entitled her first works a ‘Self-Obliteration’.
