Berlin

The Martin-Gropius-Bau and Haus der Berliner Festspiele are currently presenting the works of British-German artist Tino Sehgal. His media works have changed the view, relationship and experience of art by exploring situations through human reactions. Therefore, Sehgal doesn’t need any materials than‘interpreters’ as the artist call them.

Either real-life performances or recordings of performances, Sehgal’s works bring about a new understanding of art conventions. With ‚Kiss‘ (2007) that was first presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago, he introduces prominent art history kisses such as the ones depicted by Auguste Rodin, Gustave Klimt and Constantin Brancusi through his production. With his major exhibition in Berlin this summer, Sehgal symbolizes the interdisciplinary practices. Dance, theatre, art scenes, they will all be part of the environment recorded by Sehgal.
